You can use several different features in GarageBand to get an autotune effect. It features pitch-tracking modulation, a pitch shifter, and pitch correction, giving you a lot to work with. This plugin is more capable than the autotune features built into GarageBand, and you can get unique vocal effects with it that can add to your recordings. This popular autotuner has a free AU version that you can install into GarageBand and use instead of the built-in features of the app itself. If you are looking for a good free autotune plugin for GarageBand, take a look at Graillion 2 by Auburn Sounds. Make sure that whatever option you choose is in AU format because that is the only one compatible with GarageBand. If you want to use a more advanced autotune plugin for GarageBand, there are some good options out there to explore. You can always tweak things until they sound just right. It sounds much better than the darker 7B. I have a Shure SM7B and will get a Neumann TLM 103 shortly (yes, I demoed it in a sound room and it is incredible. My understanding is that I’ll need a noise gate, compressor, maybe a limiter, and an EQ. If I stay with GarageBand and get a few plug-ins from Fab Filter, would that be sufficient to learn and grow with? I only work on voiceovers. I’d certainly use Final Cut Pro, although I’d prefer to stay with the consumer apps for the foreseeable future. That may be a reasonable idea, maybe not. I understand Logic Pro is overkill for my needs, however I can get it for a very low price in Apple’s Education Bundle, which includes Final Cut Pro and a few others. The stock gate in GarageBand is too limiting, so I thought of a) moving to Logic Pro for its superior plugins, and b) buying a license to a third-party plugin, like Fab Filter Pro-G (for my gate) and Pro-Q3 (for my EQ, if GarageBand's EQ is not good enough). My DAW is GarageBand and I want to work on EQ, noise gate, compression, etc. I’ve been enjoying my Volt 276 for about a week now and am very satisfied with it.
